MoTeC recommends a dedicated laptop for your race car with the following minimum specifications:
For MX00, M84 and M1 ECU

• Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 32-bit (Windows 10 64-bit recommended)
• Minimum screen resolution: 1366 x 768, (Recommended: 1920 x 1080 or higher)
• Processor speed: 1-2 GHz Pentium
• 2 GB RAM
• 256 MB graphics card
• 2 USB ports
• Ethernet port

Most current laptops will meet the specifications above and this will ensure all MoTeC software will run on it.
For M4, M48, M8

• 32 bit operating system: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 32-bit
• Minimum screen resolution: 1366 x 768, (Recommended: 1920 x 1080 or higher)
• Processor speed: 1-2 GHz Pentium
• 2 GB RAM
• 256 MB graphics card
• 2 USB ports *
• Ethernet port

• When using an M4, M48 or M8 ECU it is recommended to use a PC with a serial port. However, MoTeC can supply a USB to serial adapter (part no. 61092) which is compatible with this ECU range.

Software for Latest Generation Hardware

MoTeC software runs on Windows 8 and Windows 10.
Software for Early Generation (M4, M48, M8) Hardware

MoTeC software runs on 32 bit Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7.

In addition, most of our products will already work with the 64 bit systems or we might be in the process of adapting the software for it. However, devices using DOS software like the ECU range M4, M48, M8 and the ADL Dash Logger will only be compatible with 32 bit operating systems and will not be adapted to 64 bit.

If you are using any 64 bit version of Windows 7 or 8, you must download ADL2 and UTC 64 bit USB drivers from software/latestreleases for the communications to work between your laptop and the device.

Some MoTeC software may work on Apple Mac machines with the use of a Windows XP emulator which is available from the Apple website. Full compatibility is not guaranteed.
End of Windows 7 Support

In line with Microsoft’s own support strategy, MoTeC intends to discontinue support of Windows 7 Operating Systems in future software releases. MoTeC software development will focus on 64 bit compatibility for Windows 8 or later.
Superseded software will be available to download from the MoTeC website under Old Releases.

Find your product in the communication cables section on this website. There will be an alternative connection method, but depending on your model ECU/Dash Logger you might need an additional cable. If you are still unsure, please contact your dealer or technical support.
