OVERVIEW

MoTeC M800 Plug-In ECUs are fully programmable, direct replacements for factory ECUs on a select number of popular vehicle models. Based on the M800, they control the latest automotive advances such as continuously variable camshaft timing and drive by wire throttle.

Complete with an OEM connector, M800 Plug-Ins are convenient and cost effective to install because they eliminate the need to rewire the vehicle. They simply plug into the factory wiring harness using the original sensors, ignition modules and fuel system. The units are built to operate with saturated drive fuel injectors.

‡ The ‘08 Subaru M800 Plug-In disables some factory electronics and is therefore not suitable for road use. Race and rally vehicles should be fitted with a MoTeC SDC3 to control the centre differential.

Please supply all vehicle details to your dealer, who will be able to order the right model M800 Plug-In ECU for your car.

Vehicle specifications on the same model can vary between countries (e.g. Japan vs USA vs Australia), so it is important to specify the original country of delivery.

UPGRADE

Several options are available as upgrades to customise and grow your system. These additional features are activated through a simple password system, at any time when you need it.
For M800 Plug-In ECUs the following upgrades are available:

Data Logging

Allows recording of all ECU data to the 1 MB internal logging memory and analysing the data with MoTeC's i2 Standard software. This option is enabled for a free evaluation period of the first 8 hours engine running time.

Pro Analysis

Provides access to advanced i2 Pro data analysis software with multiple graph overlays, X-Y plots, advanced maths functions, synchronised video (manual alignment), and flexible layouts to accommodate virtually any user preference. Requires the Data Logging upgrade.

Telemetry

Enables transmission of live data from the vehicle to the pit where it can be viewed in real time using the MoTeC Telemetry Monitor software. Requires radio modems or other means of transmission.

Remote Logging

Enables converting telemetry data into a log file to use with i2 data analysis software. Requires the Telemetry upgrade.

Wideband Lambda

Allows the use of the on-board wideband Lambda controller for NTK UEGO or Bosch LSU sensors. Available in single version, expandable to the dual version. The single version is enabled for a free evaluation period of the first 8 hours engine running time.

Overrun Boost Enhancement ‡

Enables boost control to reduce turbo lag and improve throttle response in tight and twisty stages for turbocharged cars, specifically in rally events.
‡ Overrun boost enhancement is available separately or as part of Advanced Functions.

Continuously Variable Camshaft Control

Enables camshaft control with each cam independently adjustable in 0.5 degree increments based on RPM and load.

Drive by Wire Throttle Control

Enables control of the throttle body actuator by interpreting the driver's pedal input via sensors. Compatible with most OEM electronic throttles.

Servo Control

Allows the use of a 3D table to control a fast response, high torque DC or stepper motor.

Multipulse, Multispark

Enables configuring ignition to fire multiple times and injectors to open twice per cycle.

SOFTWARE

MoTeC's fully updatable software is designed to quickly optimise the setup of your vehicle. It is user-friendly with an intuitive menu structure and extensive help screens.

ECU Manager Tuning Software

This Windows-based, Vista-compatible software is designed for setup, tuning and diagnostics of the engine management system. The tuning can be carried out online (with the ECU connected) or offline.

The software is available in two versions:

  • Version 2 with predefined functionality reduces the complexity of the initial setup. This results in a quick setup while maintaining a high level of flexibility.
  • Version 3 for those requiring more flexibility in the number of parameters that can be configured. This version generally requires more initial set up time but allows for very accurate tuning to the application.
  • Version 3 software can be used on any new or existing 'hundred series' ECU, to take advantage of the extra flexibility whenever it is needed.

i2 Data Analysis Software
  • Analysing logged data quickly and efficiently
  • Viewing data collected from the ECU’s internal log memory numerically or graphically to evaluate the health and performance of the vehicle and to assess driving technique
  • Monitoring various parameters in order to make improvements to performance and maintain vehicle reliability

The Data Logging upgrade is required to use i2 Standard data analysis software. In addition to the Data Logging upgrade, the Pro Analysis upgrade is available which gives access to the i2 Pro version of the software.

ACCESSORIES

To complete your installation, MoTeC has a large range of products available, all designed and/or tested to ensure they work well with your ECU.

Communication Cables
To configure a M800 Plug-In ECU, a communication cable is required to connect to a PC. On most computers a UTC (USB to CAN) adaptor should be used to connect to the USB port.

Diff Controllers
For a number of vehicles a matching plug-in diff controller is available providing additional features. The MoTeC SDC3 diff controller is required when installing a '08 Subaru M800 Plug-in ECU.

Fuel Delivery
Components to deliver the right amount of fuel to the engine including fuel injectors, pumps, regulators, filters, fittings and adapters.

Ignition Systems
Inductive and capacitive ignition devices, including the eight channel CDI8, ignition expanders, ignition coils and distributors.

Sensors
Lambda sensors, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, crank, cam and speed sensors, force and motion sensors, and position sensors.

Drive by Wire
DBW4 drive by wire expander providing four individually configurable PID controllers.

Shift Lights
SLM shift light module and single shift lights.

Displays
To display information to the driver, connect the ECU to any MoTeC dash.
